Another Knitting Stitch, Simple Pattern

I continue trying my hand at knitting and experimenting with different stitches.

Here is a stitch that looks complex, but it's quite easy. 

Abbreviations:

k: knit

p: purl

yo: yarn over

k2 tog: knit 2 together 

Multiple of 18, plus 2

I casted on 56 for this sample.

Row 1: slip the 1st st, knit across, purl last st. (Right side)

Row 2: slip the 1st st, purl across.

Row 3: slip the 1st st, *(k2 tog) three times, (YO, K1) six times, (k2 tog) three times* across, purl last st.

Row 4: slip the 1st stitch, knit across, purl last st. 

Repeat Rows 1-4 for the pattern.

My First Knitting Attempt, Simple Knitting Stitch Pattern

Finally, after many, many years I picked up my knitting stitches again. I forgot how much fun knitting is! I love that gently clanking sound that my aluminum needles make; it's so calming and therapeutical. And I love seeing how my knitting piece is growing (though it doesn't grow as quickly as crocheting!)

It is still going to be a while before I attempt a knitting project. For now, I'm just going to experiment with different stitches, try different textures, different yarns and needles.

This is my very first stitch! I tried it with size 2 (2.75 mm) needles and Caron Cakes yarn. Those needles are to thin for this yarn, but those are the only ones I have right now. I will need to buy more.

Abbreviations:

k knit

p purl

yo yarn over

skp slip 1 stitch, knit 1 stitch, pass the slipped stitch over

tog together 



Cast on multiple of 9, plus 5.

I casted on 41 for this sample. 

Row 1: slip the 1st stitch, k2, *yo, k2, skp, k2 tog, k2, yo, k1* to last two stitches, k1, p1.

Row 2: slip the 1st stitch, p across.

Repeat Row 1-2 for the pattern.
